Roof Deck

The roof deck is the structural base layer of a roofing system, typically made from plywood or OSB boards, installed over rafters or trusses. It provides a solid surface for attaching underlayment and roofing materials such as shingles or metal panels. In Vancouver’s wet climate, the roof deck plays a critical role in maintaining structural integrity by supporting weight loads and resisting moisture infiltration when properly protected. A strong, well-installed deck ensures long-term roof performance and prevents issues such as sagging or material separation.
